CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD detectives in the Major Crash department are investigating a fatal motor crash near UNC Charlotte.
On January 26, 2024 at 10:37 p.m., officers responded to a crash with an injury on the 200 block of E W.T. Harris Boulevard, according to a police report. Police state that they found a 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado in the intersection with sustaining heavy damage.
The report goes on to explain that the motorcycle driver, Kyjuan Barksdale, 21, was found unconscious in the roadway and was transported to Novant Presbyterian where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives claim they determined the Harley Davidson was traveling southeast and it struck the rear of the Chevrolet as it was making a left turn onto E McCullough Drive.
It is unknown at the time if Barksdale was impaired.
