Mooresville Man Charged With 20 Counts Of Second Degree Exploitation Of A Minor

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A Mooresville man was arrested in connection with sexual exploitation charges January 23rd.

Officers with the Mooresville Police Department say they received a tip indicating that a suspect, identified as 21-year-old Michael Richardson, was allegedly using social media sites to attempt to meet with minors for sexual intercourse.

According to a news release, Richardson admitted to the allegations when confronted by police. He was immediately apprehended and charged with solicitation of a minor by computer to commit an unlawful sexual act and placed in Iredell County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond.

Richardson posted bond and was released shortly after.

As the investigation continued, evidence was seized from Richardson’s home and examined. Detectives say numerous items of explicit child pornography were located on electronic devices belonging to Richardson.

Detectives obtained warrants charging Richardson with 20 counts of second degree exploitation of a minor.

Richardson was arrest again at his home on January 23rd and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.
