Bright Sunshine Bursts Through Midweek
Enjoy the blue skies while they last! Rain chances return by the weekend.
Our first Tuesday of February is, well, feeling like February. Lows are dipping near, at, or below freezing across our 22 counties this morning. Plentiful sunshine throughout the day will do its best to keep us warm, but stiff breezes out of the northeast will make it difficult for afternoon highs to get out of the 40s and 50s through midweek. Temperatures eventually warm into the 60s by the end of the workweek, but clouds will also build into the Carolinas by this point as a rainmaking system approaches from the southwest.
Despite grayer skies by Friday’s end, much of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area should remain dry through your final commute of the week. Scattered showers arrive by Saturday evening as an area of low pressure treks over the Appalachian Mountains. Off-and-on rain will linger through Sunday morning before some clearing by the afternoon and evening. Unfortunately, the reprieve from the rain won’t last long; another rainmaking system will slide in from the southwest by Tuesday. Rain totals through the weekend don’t look particularly impressive – likely under an inch across the board – but next week’s system may be more significant.
