LINCOLNTON, N.C. – An investigation and operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration from September 2022 to November 2023 led to ten federal indictments.
In September of 2022, the investigation began in Lincolnton and resulted in the seizure of 14 kilograms of methamphetamine, eight firearms and $27,000, according to a news release.
The release further states that information gathered in the investigation led DEA agents to Greenville, South Carolina and led to 159 total pounds of methamphetamine being seized in the investigation. Two fugitives in Mexico avoiding state charges were supplying the drugs and one of the suspects was extradited and is incarcerated in Columbia, South Carolina, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office claims the operation was concluded in November 2023 and there were ten federal indictments against ten people, including Joseph Jones. Jones was indicted on charges of drug distribution conspiracy, distribution of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. The release states that Jones was arrested on a true bill of indictment on January 31, 2024.
