Statesville Man Pleads Guilty To 2023 Shooting Incident
STATESVILLE, N.C. – A 30-year-old man will serve at least 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday for the shooting incident in Statesville last year.
Craig Alan Blackwell Jr. pleaded guilty to the following charges:
- Assault With A Deadly Weapon With Intent To Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury
- Two Counts Of Possession Of A Firearm By Felon
- Assault By Strangulation
Blackwell faces 127-165 months in prison.
The shooting took place on June 24th, 2023 at 245 Garfield Road in Statesville. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach and was later transported to Wake Forest Hospital in Winston-Salem with life-threatening injuries.
An investigation found that Blackwell was involved in the shooting, and police issued arrest warrants.
Blackwell was arrested on July 3rd, 2023 after he was found trespassing on Greenbriar Road. At the time, he was issued a $1,000,000 bond.
