GASTONIA, N.C. – A Gastonia Police officer was wedged between two cars in a Walmart parking lot caused by a suspect attempting to flee while being issued a ticket.
It happened around 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon at the Walmart Supercenter on North Myrtle School Road in Gastonia.
Sherella Janice Dudley went to Walmart with her children and allegedly stole various items, according to a news release. When officers were issuing Dudley a citation for Larceny, she got in her vehicle and attempted to leave the area.
Dudley allegedly hit a parked vehicle and sandwiched the Gastonia officer between her vehicle and the parked car.
Dudley was arrested on-scene by other officers. Police say her children were taken to the care of other family members and that the Department of Social Services was notified.
The officer was not injured in the incident.
Dudley is facing three charges: assault on a government official, shoplifting and damage to property.
