One Killed In Overnight Homicide In South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A homicide investigation is underway in south Charlotte after an overnight shooting left one person dead, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers responded to the 4500 block of South Boulevard between Woodlawn and Scaleybark Road after receiving a call about an assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. They were later pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Anthony Smith.

No arrests have been made at this time.
