STATESVILLE, N.C. – Iredell County Deputies state they arrested a 16-year-old juvenile for attempting to rob a man at gunpoint on Bethlehem road.
On February 2, 2024, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of an attempted robbery at gunpoint and claim the victim was told by the gunman to give him everything in his pockets. After the victim refused, he claimed the gunman stated, “I will come back and shoot up the whole church,” according to a news release.
After an investigation by the deputies, they came to the conclusion that the juvenile lived in the area and were able to locate his home. After arriving at the home of the juvenile, the deputies attempted to detain him after determining he matched the description by the victim, but he became combative by spitting in the face of a detective and attempting to flee, as said by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
The juvenile was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony communicating threats of mass violence and malicious conduct by a prisoner. The release states he is being held in the Alexander County Juvenile Detention Center.
