Charlotte Mom Questions CMS Response To Daughter Being Bullied And Attacked
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte mother says the school system is failing her daughter after months of being bullied and attacked at David Cox Rd Elementary.
In early November, Shantouris Jordan says her 10-year-old daughter was beaten by multiple children during recess.
Before the fight on the playground, Jordan says she warned the school for more than a month about her daughter’s bullies.
“It was the same group of people that I sent the email about in September, which I got no response,” Jordan explained.
The school’s response to this fight in early November is what has Jordan confused.
“They moved her to fourth grade, until they find her a class to go to in fifth grade, which she shouldn’t have been moved. I mean, she’s the victim,” said Jordan.
Jordan says her daughter remained in that fourth grade class, away from kids her age, for more than a month.
“She’s on the computer, learning, teaching herself, basically,” Jordan said.
Jordan says when she requested her daughter return to her own class, the principal responded with this email stating she wasn’t aware Jordan’s daughter was still in the alternate classroom.
When her daughter returned to the class, they were shocked to find out one of the accused bullies was placed into the same classroom. Jordan says the principal apologized for that move.
“She told me actually today that that was a bad decision that she made placing him in her class,” Jordan said of the principal’s apology.
Thr other student was removed last week her daughter last week.
Jordan believes the current CMS bullying system favors the bully, not the victim and believes stiffer punishment need to be put in place to deter bad behavior
“As a parent, I feel bad because I can’t help her. There’s nothing that I can do,” explained Jordan.
