“It Is Horrific”; Drivers Tired Of Delays On Brookshire Blvd For Construction
CHARLOTTE – Hundreds of drivers feel annoyed coming through the Brookshire Boulevard and I-485 ramp intersection.
This 10.6 million dollar project was awarded in late 2022. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the plan is to add additional lanes to Brookshire and the ramps from 485.
Jennifer Goodwin with NCDOT tells WCCB the goal is to create more capacity to the interchange.
“There’s just so much development going on right in that area, and there’s just an influx of heavy traffic there, too. So, it’s a confluence of different factors with the construction going on at the same time.”
Goodwin warns drivers that delays are just a part of it.
“It’s a desirable place to live. A lot of people moving here. So, we have to grow with the congestion. We just ask folks to be patient through the process.”
Drivers who come through this intersection daily, want this project done as fast as possible.
Goodwin says that once all of this done by the end of this year, that their should be some better flow for drivers not only from 485 or through the interchange, but also through that continuous flow intersection at Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.
