MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A 55-year-old man died after a firearm accidentally discharged and fatally struck him in the arm, according to a news release.
It happened around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14th.
Officers responded to 8575 West NC 152 Highway in Mooresville regarding a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said Jody Allen Leazer and another man were cleaning the home. Leazer was loading a gun into a vehicle when it accidentally discharged and hit him in the upper arm.
Leazer received aid on-scene but later died at Lake Norman Hospital.
Foul play is not believed to be a factor, and no charges are expected to be filed at this time, police said.
