New IKEA Store Coming To South Charlotte In 2024

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – IKEA is adding a new store in south Charlotte that plans to open in the summer of 2024, the store announced Thursday.

The new store will be located at the Promenade on Providence shopping center at 10844 Providence Road near I-485.

The south Charlotte location will offer a new plan and order point with pick-up, according to the news release.

Officials say that this store will be different from traditional IKEA stores, as it allows customers to meet IKEA’s store team to plan and order home furnishing solutions for larger projects. The store will only offer delivery and specific transportation methods will be arranged for customers to conveniently receive their items at home or at another suggested location.

“The goal is simple: bring the IKEA experience closer to our customers,” CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer Javier Quiñones said. “We’re excited to introduce the IKEA South Charlotte Plan & order point with Pick-up, making our home furnishing products and solutions more convenient, accessible and, above all, affordable.”

This will be IKEA’s second location in Charlotte. The first store, introduced in 2009, resides in north Charlotte near North Tryon Street and I-85.
