Charlotte, N.C. – The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) invites local artists and designers to submit their qualifications to create artwork for a bus wrap celebrating diversity and cultural inclusion in Charlotte.
The selected artist should create a design that encompasses and celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Charlotte representing all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, ages, disabilities, veteran status, etc. The artist should consider that the designs will be made for a moving vehicle seen primarily by transit patrons and the public. It is also preferable that a different but related design is created for each side of the bus. The design will be converted into digital files capable of being applied to a CATS bus, which will be in circulation throughout CATS’ service area for approximately one calendar year.
The selected artist will be paid $4,000.00 total for the approved design. The deadline to apply is March 17, 2024, by 11:59 p.m. EDT. There is no fee to apply. Artists of all backgrounds and experience levels are strongly encouraged to apply. CATS asks that artists do not submit design proposals.
