CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a victim was shot and killed in north Charlotte on Friday afternoon.

It happened in the 2600 block of Catalina Avenue. The shooting was first reported by MEDIC just after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 16th.

One victim was shot and taken to the Novant Presbyterian with life-threatening injuries, according to MEDIC. The victim died at the hospital, and the case was upgraded to a homicide investigation.

Catalina Avenue near West 30th Street is closed at this time, and people are asked to avoid this area.
