3-Year-Old Child Dies At Hospital From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A three-year-old child died at the hospital after suffering a fatal gunshot wound in east Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon, according to CMPD.

Police determined that the toddler suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound from an unsecured firearm.

The shooting happened just after 5:30 p.m in the 2300 block of Eastway Drive on Wednesday, February 21st.

CMPD confirmed the child’s passing at 7:41 p.m. Police have not said if any arrests have been made at this time.

At 5:49 p.m., MEDIC said that one person sustained a gunshot wound and was transported with life-threatening injuries.
