SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Five people were killed and one other was injured in a deadly three-vehicle collision in Spartanburg on Saturday night.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 9:26 p.m. on Interstate 26 near mile marker 12 in Spartanburg.
All five victims were in a 2004 Honda sedan traveling east on I-26.
Authorities said a commercial car hauler was traveling west on I-26 and rear-ended a 2022 Toyota sedan. The commercial car hauler then crossed the cable barrier, entered the eastbound lanes and struck the Honda sedan.
The commercial car hauler driver was injured and transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital. The Toyota driver was the sole occupant and was not injured.
It is unclear if any charges have been filed at this time. The crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
