GASTONIA, N.C. – A car crash on Interstate 85 has closed all three northbound lanes in Gastonia on Sunday afternoon.
The highway is closed from mile marker 21 until 26.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the incident happened before 3 p.m. on I-85 just after exit 22 at South Main Street.
Gaston County Scanner Radio said on X that seven vehicles were involved, including two rollovers.
As of 3:30 p.m, traffic is backed up to nearly mile marker 17 at the US 321 exit. NCDOT expects the accident to clear up by 5:51 p.m.
The accident is expected to have a high impact on traffic.
Drivers on I-85 north are asked to take exit 21 at Cox Road.
