Charlotte, North Carolina – The Mecklenburg Bar Foundation, the nonprofit entity of the Mecklenburg County Bar, owns a 23k sq. ft office building on a three-acre parcel located at 511 Yellowstone Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208 (“MBF Property”).
In 2023, the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation signed an agreement to sell the MBF Property to a third-party. Separately, the third-party made an offer to swap the MBF Property for another parcel owned by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education and both parties agreed to do the property swap.
After action by the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners to invoke its right to purchase the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education property, the third-party agreed to assign its rights to purchase the MBF Property to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education.
On January 23, 2024, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education approved the assignment of the contract. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education and the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation anticipate the closing on the MBF Property to occur in March 2024.
