Police: Man Faces Weapons Charges After Killing Girlfriend’s Father During Domestic Dispute In Gastonia

GASTONIA, N.C. — Police say they arrested a man after he shot and killed his girlfriend’s father during a domestic dispute at a home in Gastonia.

WCCB’s Trish Williford first reported from the scene last night on South Weldon Street during WCCB’s News @ TEN.

Detectives say 30-year-old Darnell Fowler got into a dispute with his girlfriend’s father, 53-year-old Gerald Humphries, Sr. Police say both men were armed during the dispute. During the confrontation, police say Humphries was shot and killed.

Both men were living in the same residence at the time of the shooting. Fowler was charged with possessing a stolen firearm. The case is being reviewed by the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office and remains under investigation this morning.
