Former Rowan County School Teacher Charged With Sex Crimes Involving Former Student

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C – Former Hurley Elementary Teacher, Sara Majors was arrested for numerous sex crimes involving a former student.

Sara Majors was a teacher at Hurley Elementary school where she first met the victim. The victim, who was no longer a student a Hurley Elementary School when the sexual assaults happened came forward in October of 2023.

The crimes are alleged to have been committed in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

During the investigation, probable cause was found to charge Majors with the following:
  • Eight counts of sex act with a student
  • 16 counts of indecent liberties with a minor
  • 16 counts of statutory rape of a child 15 years of age or younger.
After leaving Hurley Elementary School as a full-time teacher who had taught both 3rd and 5th grade, Majors had most recently taught at the North Carolina Cyber Academy, as well as Shade-Tree Homestead, a homeschool.
Majors received a $900,000 secured bond and first appeared in court on Friday, February 23rd, 2024.
