IREDELL COUNTY β A woman has been located and arrested after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a family friend’s house while they were on vacation, according to a news release.
On January, 10th, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Officer responded to a home on Fern Hill Road near Mooresville.
Deputies say the victim stated that thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry and clothing had been stolen while they were out of town.
Detectives learned that the victims left their home in the care of a family friend, identified as Athena Lian Wattanakone.Β The victim also stated that Wattanakone reportedly took the items from the home and shipped most of it to another state, according to a news release.
As a result of the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Wattanakone for felony larceny.
On Tuesday, February 27, Wattanakone was located and taken into custody. Wattanakone was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where she was issued a $15,000 secured bond on the charges.
Detectives are still working to recover the stolen property.
