WeatherWise Alert Friday PM – Saturday
Showers begin today, becoming widespread & heavy at times tonight
Rainfall totals 1-3″ possible (higher amounts south of I-85)
Isolated Severe Threat: Lacking instability
Discussion:
Clouds will increase across the region today withΒ rain chances increasing. Cloudy with temps a few degrees above average. Overnight rain will become more widespread and at times heavy. A disturbance will race toward the region from the Mississippi Valley. Severe threat will be limited due to a wedge like setup. This will limit the amount of instability, keeping temps cool and the area cloudy and wet. This should also block a warm front from lifting north across the area. IF the warm front to the south lifts north it could increase the severe threat across the area with damaging wind and an isolated tornado threat. Rainfall totals of 1-3″ will be possible with the highest totals south of I-85. Once a cold front passes through the area Saturday, conditions will dry out. Blustery Sunday morning for the mountains. Cooler, but sunny Sunday. Warming up next week.
