Mecklenburg County Deputy Terminated Following Domestic Violence Protective Order Arrest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office deputy was terminated on Tuesday after a domestic violence protective order violation, according to a news release.

Officials said Deputy James Scott was arrested on March 16th after violating a domestic violence protective order. He was let go on Tuesday, March 19th.

“MCSO prioritizes the safety of all individuals. The violation of a domestic violence order by my deputy is a clear breach of trust, and their termination reflects my commitment to holding everyone accountable,” said Sheriff Garry McFadden. 

Deputy Scott was employed by the sheriff’s office since September 7th, 2022.
