Police Investigating Homicide After Teenager Was Shot, Killed In Lancaster County

LANCASTER, S.C. – An 18-year-old is dead after he was shot and killed in Lancaster County on Friday night, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to a home on Zion Road in Lancaster around 11:14 p.m. Officers said they located a male victim across the road from his home with family members tending to him. 

Medical personnel treated the victim, but he was pronounced dead from the gunshot wounds. An autopsy will be performed next week. 

Police have not arrested anyone at this time.

“This is a very active investigation, and we are pursuing promising leads,” Sheriff Barry Faile said. “I encourage anyone with any information about this shooting to contact us immediately. We will release more information when appropriate as the investigation progresses. Our thoughts and prayers are with this young man’s family, and I hope we will have answers for them about who did this and why very soon.”

Authorities said this isn’t a random shooting and that there is not believed to be a threat to the residents in the area.
