CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police have charged an 18-year-old suspect in connection to a homicide at a southwest Charlotte home earlier this month.
Officers located Tyzavian Smith, 18, at his residence on Wednesday afternoon. Following a short standoff, Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown.
Smith was interviewed by detectives and later charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The homicide occurred around 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12th on Red Hickory Lane in Steele Creek.
Officers located the victim, identified as 23-year-old Shemar Hayes, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
