Charlotte Fire Department Looking To Hire More Than 100 Firefighters

Charlotte Fire wants to hire more than 100 firefighters to maintain its level of service to residents. As Charlotte remains one of the fastest growing cities in the country, additional firefighters ensure Charlotte Fireβs ability to keep up with our growing city.

Charlotte Fire recruits are paid, full-time employees with a complete City of Charlotte benefits package beginning on day one of recruit school. Once a candidate is selected for hire and placed into a class, recruit school lasts approximately six months.
The career path for an entry-level firefighter provides several opportunities to advance into special operations areas includingΒ a dive and boat team, rescue crews, hazardous materials specialists, helicopter-aquatic rescue and more.
Charlotte Fire has more than 1,150 dedicated personnelΒ who protect the lives and property of more than 892,000 residentsΒ serving atΒ 43 firehouses including two at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
