Jack In The Box Employee Killed In West Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD is conducting a homicide investigation after an employee at a Jack in the Box was shot and killed in west Charlotte.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are still searching for answers Friday night after yet another shooting took the life of a 17 year old.
This is the third deadly shooting in the queen city in 24 hours.
Police say the teen died in this Jack in the Box on the corner of North Hoskins Road and Brookshire Boulevard just before 2:30 p.m.
Major Ryan Butler with CMPD talked with WCCB’s Emma Mondo.
He says the teen was waiting to be picked up after his shift, when two people dressed in all black and wearing ski masks approached him.
“Those suspects clearly targeted this individual. A confrontation ensued inside the restaurant and these suspects shot the victim,” said Butler. “There’s not a set of circumstances where any of us would be okay with this. This is somebody’s son.”
CMPD’s helicopter was circling the scene and K-9 units were on the ground tracking the two people who ran.
Multiple activist groups were on the scene Friday.
“17 years old…not out here committing crimes, but trying to make an honest dollar, and someone targets him.” said Take Back Our Hood’s Lucille Puckett. “We need people out here to bring about conflict resolution, to be able to talk to our young people, because not just this one life is being impacted
“It’s more than just a youth, it’s a human,” said community activist Will Adams. “I keep saying, we as a community as a whole have to come together in order to stop this.”
Major Butler says he doesn’t know what the cause of the shooting is, but the investigation is far from over.
“We have one chance to get it right when we respond to something as serious as the loss of life, and we owe it to the victim, to the victim’s family, to the victims loved ones, and we owe it to our community at large to get it right.”
No arrests have been made at this time.
The shooting is still under investigation. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact CMPD at 704-432-TIPS.
