CHARLOTTE, N.C. β A Morganton man was sentenced to 16 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine.
The United States Attorneyβs Office announced Thursday that 34-year-old Jeffrey Scott Ohmer will serve 192 months in prison. Ohmerβs girlfriend and co-defendant, 36-year-old Destiny Nicole Miller, pleaded guilty and is awaiting her sentencing.
Ohmer will also serve five years under court supervision following his prison sentence.
According to the United States Attorneyβs Office, Ohmer possessed over 15 pounds of methamphetamine, which he sold to local distributors.
On April 5th, 2022, Ohmer and Miller were spotted driving a stolen vehicle. Deputies searched them and the vehicle and found methamphetamine in Millerβs waistband.
Later that year on October 27th, Ohmer was pulled over. In a search of the vehicle, police said they found a black backpack that contained approximately 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine in Ziplock bags. Court records said the deputies also found a handgun with an extended magazine, 29 rounds of ammunition, two bags of marjuana and digital scales.
Officials said Miller also attempted to sell a fully automatic machine gun on Ohmerβs behalf. Upon learning that, an undercover officer and confidential informant met with Miller to buy a gun and drugs, according to court documents.Β
Miller sold a machine gun with a silencer, a pistol and ammunition to the undercover officer, officials said. Court records said she also sold approximately 7.8 grams of methamphetamine to the confidential informant.
