Two Children Injured In Morganton Crash; Father Charged With DWI
MORGANTON, N.C. – A father has been charged with a DWI after colliding with two vehicles head-on, sending his two children and pregnant passenger to the hospital.
The three-vehicle collision occurred on Thursday evening on West Fleming Drive. When first responders arrived, a vehicle was rolled over and three occupants were trapped inside.
The three occupants – two children and a pregnant passenger – were rescued in under two minutes. All three were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Officials said Mathis Pardue McCann, 34, was driving a Toyota 4Runner, traveling east on West Fleming Drive. He allegedly crossed over two lanes of oncoming traffic and collided with two vehicles head-on.
The vehicle flipped on its side and came to a stop against the westbound guardrail.
McCann was charged with DWI, two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and failure to maintain lane.
