Suspect Identified In 1979 North Carolina Killing

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Investigators identified the suspect responsible for the murder of a 20-year-old woman in Alamance County 45 years ago.

In 1979, police found Tammy Aldridge’s body with her hands and her ankles bound. Investigators say the 20 year old was also sexually assaulted and strangled.

No suspect was ever charged for her murder but investigators used new technology to identify Gary Laframboise as the suspect.

The lead detective on this case said Laframboise died in 2020, but they were able to trace evidence back to him using DNA from a relative.

“Once you get a name, once you get a lead, once you get something to go on, that’s kind of what drives you to keep digging and digging,” Sheriff Terry Johnson said.

Aldridge’s family said while they still have questions, they are grateful deputies did not forget about her.
