Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Highway In South Carolina

ANDERSON, S.C. – A pedestrian died Saturday night after being hit by a vehicle while allegedly walking across Interstate 85 in South Carolina, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 10:53 p.m. in the I-85 northbound lanes near mile marker 30 outside of Williamston, South Carolina.

Officials said the pedestrian was walking across the highway when they were hit by a 2013 Hyundai Elantra traveling north on I-85.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hyundai driver was not injured.

It is unclear if either party was impaired and if that was a contributing factor to the crash.
