Shooting Leaves Security Guard Dead, Seven Others Injured

DORAL, FL. – A security guard has been killed and seven others injured in a shooting in Doral, Florida just west of Miami.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning after what police are calling “an altercation at a nightclub.”

Investigators say the security guard on duty was shot and killed after intervening in the fight. A Doral police officer then engaged the suspect.

“There was an exchange of gunfire between the subject and the officer,” Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department said. “The officer shot and killed the subject. However, the officer also sustained a gunshot wound to the lower extremity.”

Investigators say two of the other people who were shot are in the hospital and are in critical condition.
