NWS: EF-1 Tornado Leaves Path Of Destruction In Wilkes County

The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado touched down one mile SSW of Wilkesboro, North Carolina Thursday evening

The estimated peak wind speeds were: 105-110mph. The path width was 300 yards.

Numerous trees were blown down. A tree fell on a house and an outbuilding was destroyed.

Another strong storm hit Rowan County. The NWS is currently surveying that damage. Check back for updates.
