BLACKSBURG, S.C. – The driver of a pickup truck died at the hospital after crashing into a tree in Cherokee County on Friday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
It happened around 10:56 p.m. on McGill Highway near Holly Brook Drive.
Officials said the driver, operating a 1993 Chevy pickup truck, was traveling east on McGill Highway. The driver traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected, veered off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
The driver was transported by EMS to Gaffney Medical Center but was later pronounced dead, officials said.
The driver was the sole occupant. It is unclear if speed or alcohol was involved.
This crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
