CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mint and Graham Street temporarily closed Sunday morning as Bank Of America Stadium is replacing the exhaust fans on the East and West scoreboards.
In order to replace the equipment, a helicopter is required to hoist the 1200 pound fans up to the scoreboard.
As such, police are closing Mint and Graham Street near the stadium until 11 a.m. as a safety precaution.
The function of the scoreboard fans is to cool the space inside the scoreboard for protection of the equipment and create a climate-controlled working environment for all AV Tech, Maintenance and Security labor who need to work inside the space, officials said in a news release.
The helicopter began replacing the exhaust fans at both scoreboards at 8 a.m. The installation is scheduled to be completed by 10 a.m.
