Police: Man Wanted For Murder Arrested After Violent Carjacking Attempt

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – Huntersville Police say they arrested a man who fit the description of an attempted robbery of vehicle with a dangerous weapon suspect.

On April 13, 2024 at 7:45 pm, police responded to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon and a possible stabbing at the QuikTrip gas station on Statesville Road, according to a news release.

The release states that police arrived within two minutes and found a victim with a laceration to her hand and other minor injuries and told them that the suspect assaulted her with a knife and attempted to steal her vehicle. The victim said the attempt was unsuccessful and the suspect fled on a bicycle, but was not located despite an extensive search.

The following morning at 11:00 am, officers say responded to a suspicious person call and located a suspect, identified as Shawn Love, 27, fit the description of the suspect from the assault and robbery. Police also they discovered that Love was wanted for murder out of Rock Hill, South Carolina after running a warrant check, as said by in the release. Love was charged with one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
