Update: Missing Burke County Man Found Safe

DYSARTSVILLE, N.C. – The man reported missing in Burke County that was last seen leaving his home on Tuesday morning was found safe, authorities confirmed Wednesday night.
Justin Alan Scott and his dog were located by the search teams. He was treated by first responders before returning home.

DYSARTSVILLE, N.C. – The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 42-year-old man that was last seen Tuesday morning.
Justin Alan Scott was last seen leaving his home near Gold Mine Road in the Dysartsville area on foot at around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning and has not returned.
Officials said he may have headed into the woods near Gold Mine Road between Dysartsville Road and US Highway 64.
Scott, a white male, is 5-foot-10 and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He has medium-length dark brown hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a black and tan jacket, a black t-shirt, and brown hiking boots with orange shoelaces. He is also known to be wearing blue jeans or khaki pants.
Scott was also last seen with a small gray and black dog named Freya. The dog, pictured above, has a gray and black harness with a teal-colored leash.
Authorities are coordinating search efforts in the area to find Scott.
