Suspect Charged In University City Homicide
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police have identified and arrested the suspect in connection to a homicide on Easter in the northeast Charlotte.
Following an investigation into the shooting, officials obtained an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Khyree Lewis. He was arrested in Concord on Thursday, April 18th.
Lewis was charged with first-degree murder.
The shooting happened at the 7-Eleven on University City Boulevard near John Kirk Drive just before 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 31st.
There, officers located a male victim, later identified as 25-year-old Kedrick Brown, with a gunshot wound. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
Lewis remains in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
This shooting is still under investigation.
