Police Arrest Suspect Accused Of Firing Shots Near CMS Students At Bus Stop

After an extended investigation, police have identified the shooter in this case.Β Elijah Massey, now 18, has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and assault by pointing a gun.
Reports confirm that Massey was the significant other of the girl in question when the investigation began. Police reports reveal that Massey was identified through a line process from a photo taken from social media.
Massey was convicted February first and has been sentenced to 24 months in jail.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. β An investigation is underway after a person wearing a ski mask allegedly approached students at a bus stop and discharged a firearm on Thursday, according to CMS officials.
A 15 year old Palisades High School student tells WCCB’s Emma Mondo he believes he was the intended target of a shooting at his school bus stop Thursday morning.
The shooting happened on Arrowood Road at the Arrowood Crossing Apartments just before 6:30 AM. The teen says the shooter was dressed in black and wearing a ski mask when they walked up to the bus stop.
“He came around the corner, around the bushes,” he said. “He came with his stuff. He pointed it at me first, and he looked at my friend and he looked at me. He was all focused on me.”
The student says the shooter fired three times, with the first to bullets barely missing him.
“I felt it like grazed like a little wind go through right here on my arm. So it’s like right beside me,” said the teen.
He believes he was the intended target because of a “girl situation.”
Parents are outraged. Zackia Redding says her daughter saw the shooter as well.
“I was scared as hell,” said Redding. “I was crying, I rushed home to my baby. She told me, ‘mom, please come home’. So I drop everything, got my paperwork out and I rush to got to my child.”
According to a news release, the students quickly dispersed and ran. No injuries have been reported.

Good afternoon, Palisades High School families, this is Principal βOβ reaching out to inform you of an incident that occurred this morning at one of our bus stops.Β
While students were waiting at the bus stop, an alarming event unfolded. A person wearing a ski mask approached the students and discharged a firearm, promoting immediate panic among the students. As a result, they dispersed and ran causing some to arrive late to school.Β
There were no injuries reported. Law enforcement was contacted, and an investigation is underway. While this event did not take place on our campus we encourage our students and families to remain vigilant to safety threats.Β
