Middle School Teacher Arrested In Union County Following Misconduct Investigation
MONROE, N.C. – Authorities charged a 26-year-old middle school teacher with indecent liberties following a misconduct investigation, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
Max Martin, a teacher at Piedmont Middle School, was charged with indecent liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a student.
Police began an investigation after a student said they received inappropriate messages and requests from Martin on social media.
Upon collecting evidence and conducting interviews, detectives arrested Miller on Wednesday, May 1st.
“I commend the victims who came forward during this investigation for their bravery and resilience,” Sheriff Eddie Cathey said. “My office remains committed to ensuring the safety of our local students and staff members and I encourage anyone with additional information about this case to contact our detectives.”
He is being processed at the Union County Detention Center. His bond has not been set at this time.
