Former Chesco Employees Charged In Death Of “Vulnerable Adult”

CHESTERFIELD, S.C. – Two former Chesco Services employees are facing charges related to the death of a vulnerable adult from September of 2023, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Janique Darrelle Stanton, 27, and Amani My’Shawna Mccray, 19, are each accused of abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult, resulting in the victim’s death.

Stanton and Mccray allegedly knowingly left the victim alone in their apartment for an unknown amount of time, the affidavit said.

Upon returning to the apartment, officials said Stanton and Mccray didn’t contact emergency medical services despite the victim being in respiratory distress. They also didn’t attempt to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the affidavit said.

Stanton and Mccray were charged with abuse, neglect resulting in the death of a vulnerable adult. They were both booked at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
