Matthews Man Arrested For Drug Possession Following Traffic Stop

MONROE, N.C. โ€“ย A Matthews man is facing charges after police say they found illegal substances in the suspectโ€™s car during a traffic stop, according to the Monroe Police Department.

At approximately 1:42 p.m. on Sunday, May 5th, officers pulled over Zachary Cobb for an expired license plate.

Police said Cobb, 26, was in possession of a handgun and a โ€œTHCโ€ pen.

Officers initiated a search on Cobbโ€™s vehicle and said he illegally possessed prescription narcotics, including Oxycodone, Gabapentin, Clonazepam, Alprazolam, Zolpidem, and Eszopiclone. Crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle.

Police also found a small safe in the vehicle. After obtaining a search warrant, officers opened the safe and said they found a bag of suspected fentanyl, THC wax and additional drug paraphernalia.

Cobb was arrested and charged with the following

  • Simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance
  • Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
