Matthews Man Arrested For Drug Possession Following Traffic Stop
MONROE, N.C. – A Matthews man is facing charges after police say they found illegal substances in the suspect’s car during a traffic stop, according to the Monroe Police Department.
At approximately 1:42 p.m. on Sunday, May 5th, officers pulled over Zachary Cobb for an expired license plate.
Police said Cobb, 26, was in possession of a handgun and a “THC” pen.
Officers initiated a search on Cobb’s vehicle and said he illegally possessed prescription narcotics, including Oxycodone, Gabapentin, Clonazepam, Alprazolam, Zolpidem, and Eszopiclone. Crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle.
Police also found a small safe in the vehicle. After obtaining a search warrant, officers opened the safe and said they found a bag of suspected fentanyl, THC wax and additional drug paraphernalia.
Cobb was arrested and charged with the following
- Simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance
- Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
