City Of Charlotte Announces Winners Of Over $150,000 In Placemaking Grants

CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ€“ The City of Charlotte has selected this yearโ€™s Placemaking Grant winners, who will be receiving a combined total of $154,310 in project funding. The city is continuing its passionate pursuit of placemaking, working with the community and local creatives to build a more vibrant Queen City.

Funding has been awarded to chosen applicants through the latest round of the cityโ€™s Placemaking Grant program. The program, which began in 2018 and is led by the City of Charlotteโ€™s Urban Design Center (UDC), provides funding and technical support for projects that create and enhance community vibrancy, safety and identity. Project types include:

  • Activation of leftover and/or underutilized spaces.
  • Streetscape improvements.
  • Art and beautification efforts.
  • Creation of community gathering spaces.

This grant, now in its fifth consecutive year, builds upon the opportunities presented in the cityโ€™s Placemaking Hub, which provides toolkits to inspire and guide placemaking efforts.
