Lightning Strike More Than Likely Causes House Fire In South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Fire says lightning more than likely caused a fire at a home in south Charlotte early Thursday morning. It took 30 firefighters about 20 minutes to put out the fire at the home on Huntcliff Drive.

The fire started at 4:25am. The fire was most likely caused by a lightning strike to the chimney of the home, according to CFD. Estimated fire damage is approximately $90,000.
