$20,000 Reward For Information On Double Homicide Case From 2020
HICKORY, N.C. – A reward of $20,000 is being offered for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect wanted for killing two men in May of 2020.
At 10:40 p.m. on May 10th, 2020, police said officers responded to the Save More Convenience Store on 1st Avenue Southwest in Hickory in regards to two men being shot.
Responding officers approached a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu near the gas pumps and found two men in the backseat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victims were identified as 20-year-old Xzavion Rashawn Watts and 16-year-old Damarion Isaiah Sharpe.
Sharpe was pronounced dead at the scene. Watts was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center where he later died.
Officials said Watts and Sharpe went to the convenience store with two females after attending a family cookout at a relative’s home. When the two females exited the vehicle and walked towards the store, police said a black man wearing a gray coat with the hood up approached the Chevrolet Malibu.
Police said the suspect opened the front passenger door and fired multiple shots at Watts and Sharpe. The suspect was last seen leaving the area towards the back of the store, officials said.
The family of Watts and Sharpe is offering a $20,000 reward for information that could lead to the identity and arrest of the shooter.
This is an on-going investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551 or Investigator Tammie Johnon at 828-261-2619.
