“Carolina Squat” Ban Went Into Effect Friday In South Carolina

FORT MILL, S.C. – The “Carolina Squat” law went into effect Friday, making it illegal for drivers to operate a “squatted” vehicle on South Carolina roads.

The law states that drivers cannot operate a vehicle with the front or rear fender raised four or more inches than the other.

The law went into effect November 12th, 2023, but police have only issued warnings for the past six months.

First offenders will receive a $100 fine; second offenders will receive a $200 find.

Third offenders will receive a $300 fine and have their license suspended for 12 months from the date of conviction.
