Motorcyclist Killed In Catawba County

 CATAWBA, N.C. – One person is dead after a motorcyclist overturned in Catawba County late Friday night, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

It happened around 11:40 p.m. on Oxford School Road near US 70.

Police said a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle, traveling north on Oxford School Road, crossed the center line, drove off the left side of the road and overturned.

The motorcyclist, identified as 56-year-old Wesley Todd Crawford, was ejected and died at the scene.

Police said excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash. Oxford School Road was closed for two hours.
