Sunny Skies Carry Through Weekend
Clouds return to the forecast on Monday ahead of a wet and stormy Tuesday.
After an active start to May, the weather has finally settled this weekend. Sunny skies and comfy highs have taken hold of our area this Saturday afternoon; expect more of the same on Sunday. A few clouds and even fewer showers may roll through the western Carolinas this evening, but those looking to catch another glimpse of the Northern Lights have the green light tonight. Highs flirt with the 80s in the Piedmont to close out the weekend as the High Country tops out near 70°.
More clouds push into the Carolinas by Monday afternoon, but highs won’t budge much from the day before. Rain chances pick up by Tuesday morning as a rainmaking system approaches from the west. We’re watching careful for the potential for a few strong storms Tuesday afternoon, although it’s looking like the worst will stay well to our southwest right now. Leftover moisture will lead to more scattered showers and storms on Wednesday before clear skies return to close the coming workweek. Thursday is trending quite warm – highs will be in the mid-80s in the Metro.
