Overturned 18-Wheeler Causing Delays On US 321

The southbound lanes on US 321 are now open and the northbound left lane of 321 near US 10 is closed. The cleanup is estimated to take 2-3 hours.

The collision involved multiple vehicles and one person was transported via helicopter to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a release. Traffic is being detoured off the exit, but able to get right back on.

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – State Troopers and EMS are responding an 18-wheeler that overturned on its left side on to the median on US 321 near mile marker 38, according to a news release.

The release states that the collision occurred at 12:1o p.m. on the southbound side of US 321, causing the left lanes on the north and southbound sides to be closed. The right lanes are open, but traffic is moving slowly, as said in the release.

The driver received minor injuries. Cleanup and recovery will take several hours and drivers are urged to find alternate routes of travel.
