SHELBY, N.C. – Police arrested a 17-year-old suspect in connection to a shooting in southern Cleveland County on Thursday, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened on Kim Drive near Shaw Street on Thursday, May 16th around 3:50 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they located one victim, identified as Kenneth Patterson, of Charlotte, with multiple gunshot wounds.
Patterson was transported to Atrium Shelby before being taken by helicopter to Atrium Charlotte. Officials said Patterson is in stable condition at this time.
Deputies said they determined the 17-year-old’s identity throughout the investigation and arrested him Thursday evening.
The juvenile, whose name was not immediately released, is in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Officials did not say if any charges have been filed.
